Privacy Notice

Get Legible turns documents into clear, large-print versions. This notice explains what personal data we hold when you use the service, why, who helps us process it, and the rights you have. Any questions, email admin@getlegible.co.uk.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a securely hashed password.
- The documents you upload and the large-print copies we produce from them.
- Billing: if you add a card, it’s stored by our payment provider (Stripe) as a secure token — we never see or hold your full card number.
Why we process it
Solely to provide the conversion service you ask us for — to check, convert and deliver your document, and to bill for documents we deliver. We don’t use your documents to train AI models, and we don’t sell your data or use it for marketing or profiling.
Who helps us process it
We use a small set of trusted providers (sub-processors), each under a data-processing agreement, to host the service securely, read the layout of your document, produce the large-print version, take payment, and send you service emails. Document hosting and layout reading take place within the EU; text conversion and payment processing take place in the US under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses / UK addendum).
Our full list of sub-processors — with the role, data scope and region of each — forms part of our data processing agreement and is available on request. None of our payment or email providers ever receives the contents of your documents.
How long we keep it
- Uploaded documents are deleted shortly after processing; the large-print copy is kept for a short collection window, then removed.
- Your account data is kept while your account exists. You can delete it at any time (see below).
- A privacy-safe audit record (counts and file hashes, never document content) is retained so we can evidence what we did.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or object to our processing. You can delete your account and all your documents yourself at any time from your account page, or email us. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Keeping it safe
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, each account’s data is isolated from every other’s, and our conversion checks are designed so a document is never delivered altered without detection.
A note on the pilot
Get Legible is in a limited testing phase. While we’re piloting, please upload test or non-sensitive documents only, not real personal or financial paperwork.
